Irregular cycles & Pms |
One of the most common forms of hormonal imbalance shows up as irregular cycles, PMS, or painful periods. Many of the women I see report painful and heavy periods, or cycles that only come once in a while.
The root causes for this are often multifactorial and will differ depending on your personal circumstance. Yet, targeting your specific symptoms with nutrition, lifestyle changes and a greater connection can bring relief, balance, and joy around being a woman! |
Peri & Post menopausal |
Women who are undergoing peri-menopause or women who have not had a cycle in over a year (post-menopause) need to be supported in specific ways. With the drop of oestrogens, women often experience symptoms such as hot flushes, irritability, vaginal dryness, fatigue, and bone and heart health becomes a concern. More importantly, the nutritional requirements of women during this age stage also change and getting this right is essential for feeling on top of your health.
It’s also often a busy stage of life for peri and post-menopausal women as many are still working, running a household, and caring for adolescent children as well as ageing parents. To ensure that they don't develop preventable diseases and disorders at this time of their life, addressing nutritional and emotional concerns is a real passion of mine and I love seeing women become empowered to keep themselves energized, vibrant, and healthy! |
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) |
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome affects around one in ten women of reproductive age and can be a really difficult time for many women as PCOS is often diagnosed during early adulthood or when further investigations are made when infertility strikes.
Despite the name, PCOS is a hormonal disorder that not only affects the ovaries but has a wider impact on the body due to an excessive balance of insulin and androgens (male hormones like testosterone). These elevated hormones are responsible for irregular periods, difficulty becoming pregnant, excessive facial hair (hirsutism), alopecia, weight gain and mood disturbances and it’s important to note that you may experience some or none of these symptoms. I see so many women who have tried every diet without any success but not until you understand the effect of these hormones and the role that food plays in alleviating insulin resistance will you feel more in control and reduce the self-perpetuating cycle that I so often see. There’s no need to cut carbs or go hungry all day long - I can help to build a better connection through food and support balancing your hormones. |
