Carla Johnson

Carla is a young and enthusiastic dietitian and nutritionist who is passionate about helping her clients achieve the best eating habits they can.  

Her area of specialty is focusing on women's health and hormonal issues including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), thyroid issues, menopause and diabetes and she is dedicated to educate, inspire and encourage women to know more about how their bodies work and what they can do to look after it.

With over a decade of experience, Carla has worked with hundreds of women who are confused, bamboozled and consequently unsure with how to nourish themselves, and she found they are often doing more damage than good in their efforts to be healthy.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics ​   (Deakin University)
  • Graduate Certificate of Health Promotion (Deakin University)
  • Accredited Practising Dietitian (Dietitians Association of Australia)

Background

My food beliefs stem from a culturally diverse upbringing with a Chinese mother and an Italian-Australian father where everyone is brought together over a meal. I believe that a strong, positive relationship with food is important for nourishment and emotional wellbeing and I want to share and support other's to have the same approach.

My work in the hospital and community health sectors and extensive past experience in delivering corporate health and wellbeing programs in the workplace has shaped my ability to understand the fuller life picture. I have also facilitated the Life! Taking action on heart disease, stroke and diabetes program and have recently joined the Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food 'Learn Your Fruit and Vegetable' program as an accredited facilitator, which I find incredibly rewarding. I hope that everyone can experience from a young age, the love of food that I have.

The little things

  • In my spare time, I enjoy getting together with friends, going to markets, veggie gardening and weekend breaks to the coast or highlands.
  • I have two miniature schnauzers that rule my house!
  • ​I love starting the day with a list of activities to do. 
  • My secret treat is a croissant with jam.
  • Always making time for me is a must on the weekend.​​
